Walking near the Coastline in the Scottish Borders
Walking in the Scottish Borders, Visit Scotland

The Scottish Borders is the perfect place for walkers all year round.

Whether you are looking for a gentle stroll or something more demanding, the Rowan Pod is the perfect base.  There are 1500 miles of dedicated walking routes in the Borders.  A lot of these walking routes are themed so you will be walking in the footsteps of famous names from history.

The Borders Abbey Way (65 miles) connects the great abbeys of Jedburgh, Melrose, Kelso and Dryburgh  and is broken down into four sections.   The 60 mile St. Cuthbert’s Walk follows the life of one of the north’s great loved saints who ministered at Melrose before ending up at Holy Island.

John Buchan Way is a path covering 23 miles from Peebles to Broughton and the beautiful Berwickshire Coastal path - 15 miles- goes from Berwick upon Tweed to St Abbs with superb scenery and a coastline full of wildlife, secret covers and harbours.

There are many footpaths across the Lammermuirs and some start from Oxton (the Carfraemill) and Lauder.
